I purchased Awareness Technologies "Webwatcher" a year ago because of some serious safety concerns for my family. Last week, without warning, this firm pulled the plug on its 3.0 version. This was done without any prior notice, warning, etc., the information flow just simply went blank. When I contacted the firm they offered a lame excuse that there was now an inter-face problem via Microsoft, but if I purchased their new upgrade. . .and reinstalled it on the target computer, everything would work again. I see this as outright fraud, given their promise on purchase of lifetime support without having to purchase any additional services. It seems a convenient way to dump off tens of thousands of user and/or to force us to purchase an upgrade. The excuse about Microsoft is absurd, anyone with a bit of tech sense knows that an easy patch can be written if there is a sudden interface problem. This is FRAUD. I trusted this firm, spent over $100 for full support, have endured the insult of my software being shut down without warning, blackmailed to try and purchase new software, and feel they have blatantly violated a contractual agreement. Anyone who uses the 3.0 version of this product should complain until they connect us back. Anyone who purchases their product now, be warned, prior behavior indicates that after a brief period of time, you will be left high and dry as well.

Against the website, this software is VERY easy to detect and delete with antivirus software!!!

"demand more money for there BS excuse...don't buy this program..The computer i am montoring is now not under my control and downloading a new program to it is impossible..Thanks A******holes.Now i have no knowledge of what my kid is doing...you should be sued out of business...." pretty much sums it up

:roll honestly, so you think that for $100 you are entitled to lifetime support. Get real, that was probably a 3 yr subscription if that much! 

 

You probably don't realize that for your lousy $100, it would likely cost the company well over $100 ,yeah, one thousand dollars to do a single recovery and the recovery officers have to put up with unrealistic expections and nasty attitudes from some customers who have nothing better to do than expect the moon for your lousy $1000! Honestly

I actually visit this site often, because, I too have complaints about different companies, etc. So I decided to look up Awareness Technologies because I own their software; no intentions of saying anything but just to see if there were any complaints. 

 

Well, all I can say is that I've had a very different experience with Awareness Technologies. I've been a customer since 2005. Yes, I did eventually get the upgrade package because it was well worth it and the company has been good to me by not forcing me to get upgrades. 

 

They have NEVER charged me a single monthly or annual fee, EVER! Listen, it's the nature of software. Things change constantly. I bought the software a year ago, upgraded my pc so much that eventually what I had bought stopped working. Not because of WebWatcher though.. but because that's just how software is. How much can you expect a top of the line monitoring software to work without having to eventually upgrade it? 

 

Also, I think the original poster had understood the license agreement. They never claimed to give you support for life, they do claim that the license is yours for life and they have kept to that promise. Nowhere on their website does it say support is given for life, nowhere.  

 

Regarding the second guy, casico, I don't think you should be upset at all and I'll tell you why. Your statement, "The computer i am montoring is now not under my control and downloading a new program to it is impossible" -- Dude, the software was installed on a pc that you don't have access to anymore and not under your control? In other words, a pc you DO NOT own. Um, that means you installed the software illegally! Isn't that considered hacking under most states? Fines and jail time associated with that? Hmmmmm... 

 

Anyhow, just my two cents. Love this company, great product, great support/sales staff. It's the only monitoring I trust for monitoring my kids. I usually don't post positive stuff on this site, but something need to be said. This software has personally saved my relationship and kept my kids outta trouble. So I owe them a favor in return.

i FEEL THE SAME WAY. They lied there way into my wallet now even though the computer operating system 

has not changed they demand more money for there BS excuse...don't buy this program..The computer i am montoring is now not under my control and downloading a new program to it is impossible..Thanks A******holes.Now i have no knowledge of what my kid is doing...you should be sued out of business....
